Festus has city sewer service. The Twin City sewer system, run by Festus and Crystal City, has been owned and operated by the Jefferson County Public Sewer District (JCPSD) since February 15, 2024. That covers the mains, treatment plant, billing and service calls (City of Festus notice).
If you get a sewer bill from JCPSD, your home is connected and there is no septic tank to pump. The city's utilities page says sewer billing comes from JCPSD and is based on water use (Festus utilities).
Homes outside the sewer lines
